Far-right extremist Marián Magát faces charges for defamation of nation, race and belief for the August 2015 incident that occurred during a demonstration in Prague.
If he is found guilty, he may spend one to three years in prison, the TASR newswire reported.
Apart from the recent charges, he is also facing charges for supporting and promoting groups that suppress fundamental rights and freedoms as well as the offence of denying and approving the Holocaust and the crimes of political regimes. The charges were submitted on July 27 by the district prosecutor in Čadca.
In addition, the Čadca District Court sentenced Magát to three years with conditional suspension and a three-year probation period for illegal arming and arms trafficking back in February. The verdict however, is not valid yet, TASR wrote.
Magát ran in the 2016 general election on the slate of the far-right People’s Party – Our Slovakia (ĽSNS), and also plans to compete for the governor post in the Žilina Region in the autumn regional elections, TASR reported.
