Another 200 jobs may be lost in Košice Region, report local labour offices have reported.
SONaP, s.r.o. in Sečovce announced the biggest layoffs, the SITA newswire reported. According to Trebišov labour office spokesman Miroslav Kundek, the company plans to make 140 workers redundant in April this year. Tatiana Kasková of SONaP said that owing to a significant drop in production in the automotive industry, the company is ending production of cables in Michalovce and will lay off 140 of the company's total 180 employees.
In March, one mass layoff was announced in Rožňava, scheduled between April and the end of this year. It concerns 25 employees of a company that wants to remain anonymous for now, Rožňava labour office spokeswoman Monika Spišáková said. Embraco in Spišská Nová Ves, a producer of home and commercial cooling compressors, intends to lay off 45 company employees in the second week of April. During March, no companies have so far reported mass layoffs at labour offices in Košice and Michalovce. SITA
