More than 15,000 debtors apply for insurance pardon

SOCIAL security provider Sociálna Poisťovňa (SP) has received more than 15,000 applications to have the fines it has issued written off, the daily SME reported.

Insurants have paid almost Sk1.1 billion (€30 million) in back payments and now want the fines pardoned. The insurer is examining their applications.

In the past not all applications have been accepted because insurants have continued to miss their payments. The December 2004 amnesty for debtors is the second one and probably the last. The current law does not allow any general pardons for fines.
