BANKS in Slovakia have extended mortgages worth Sk41.05 billion (€1 billion) since the introduction of mortgage lending in 1999 and July 31, 2004, said the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS).
According to the NBS, Slovak banks signed 51,170 mortgage contracts during that period and the overall due principal stood at Sk33.7 billion at the end of July.
There were 34 issues of mortgage bonds with a total nominal value of Sk21.6 billion, the state run TASR news agency wrote.
