The average retail price of 95-octane petrol was Sk38.36 per litre as of September 10, keeping Slovakia in 12th place in the EU’s affordable gas rankings.
The retail price of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) was Sk20.33 per litre and the average price of diesel was Sk37.62 per litre, according to figures from the Slovak Statistics Office.
For the week of September 3 to September 10, the cheapest 95-octane petrol in the EU was again available in Estonia, and the most expensive was in the Netherlands.
In January 1997, 91-octane petrol cost Sk21.31 per litre, 95-octane petrol cost Sk22.39 per litre, and diesel cost Sk20.89 per litre. Prices first exceeded Sk30 per litre in early 2000, and they crossed the Sk40 mark in September 2005.
