THE HEAD of Slovakia’s parliamentary defense committee is calling for a new law on terrorism, the SITA news agency reported.
Committee head Robert Kaliňák said: "The law would define priority tasks for security forces. These priority tasks would include monitoring the movements of dangerous materials and people deemed potentially dangerous in Slovakia.”
Kaliňák believes that new legislation would be more effective in the fight against terror than what is currently in place (i.e. monitoring telephone calls).
The law, says the committee head, would also help coordinate intelligence services. Kaliňák plans to draft the legislation this autumn, together with defense committee members.
