INDEPENDENT MP Iveta Henzélyová refused to testify to police yesterday when asked about allegations of MP bribery implied in the secret recording made by her former party boss Pavol Rusko.
On the recording, Henzélyová told Rusko, the head of the opposition New Citizen's Alliance party, that she had been approached by a group of people who offered her various advantages for her vote in parliament.
According to the Pravda daily, based on the existing legislation, Henzélyová can refuse to answer police questions only if she or her close family would face criminal prosecution as a result of her testimony.
However, Slovak MPs can also refuse to testify on information they find out while performing their functions as MPs.
Henzélyová avoided journalists who waited for her at the front door of the police building by leaving through a back door.
