INDEPENDENT MP Iveta Henzélyová refused to testify when police asked her to answer questions about allegations of MP bribery, implied in the secret recording made by her former party boss Pavol Rusko.
On the recording, Henzélyová tells Rusko, the head of the opposition New Citizen's Alliance party, that she has been approached by a group of people who offered her various advantages for her vote in parliament.
According to the Pravda daily, based on the existing legislation, Henzélyová can refuse to answer police questions only if she or her close family would face criminal prosecution as a result of her testimony. However, Slovak MPs can also refuse to testify on information they find out while performing their functions as MPs.
Henzélyová avoided journalists waiting for her at the front of the police building by leaving through a back door.
