New Citizen's Alliance (ANO) Chairman Pavol Rusko yesterday submitted a secretly recorded tape to the police on which his former MP, Iveta Henzélyová, talks about how she was approached and offered money, the reconstruction of her house and a certain project in return for her joining the coalition.
According to the tape’s transcript, Henzélyová claims that she was approached by a person or group of people who were sent by "someone from our [people]".
It is unclear whether the group of ANO breakaways around Ľubomír Lintner sent these people, however.
Rusko recorded the material secretly on October 23 in ANO headquarters when Henzélyová was already voting with the coalition. According to the SME daily she came to Rusko to explain her motives for leaving Rusko's ANO. The recording suggests that she refused to take money from the people. She accepted the offer of an unspecified project.
According to opposition Smer party leader Robert Fico this tape speaks about the "most serious crisis of the democratic system from the start of [Mikuláš] Dzurinda government".
However, the ruling politicians suggested that the tape could be part of various games. The chairman of the Hungarian Coalition Party, Béla Bugár, said he would like to know who the "our [people]" are and whether it is someone from the Lintner group or people whom Rusko sent.
A police investigator is now inspecting the tape. It is expected that the investigator will soon invite Henzélyová for questioning.
