CABINET MPs disagree with the plan of Justice Minister Daniel Lipšic, who wants to abolish 13 out of the 55 district courts, the Slovak daily Pravda wrote.
The ruling MPs argue that by abolishing so many courts people would have to travel long distances for justice and propose that only eight courts be abolished. The opposition, meanwhile, rejects any cancellation of courts.
Lipšic wants to cancel the courts as part of a judicial reform that in the end would leave a new three-layer system of judiciary operations in Slovakia that, according to the minister, would increase the effectiveness of the judiciary.
