The current situation at Slovak tax offices caused by the Financial Administration’s malfunctioning information system is still serious since much of the data now has to be processed manually, the chair of parliament’s finance and budget committee, Jozef Kollár, told the TASR newswire.
After an inspection by MPs at the tax office in Bratislava the deputies confirmed a plan drawn up by the Financial Administration to launch the new KONS information system by the end of March.
“There are also dates such as the end of July, however,” said Kollár, as quoted by TASR, adding that this concerns certain functions for supervisors and bailiffs.
On the other hand, opposition MP Peter Kažimír said that based on the information provided by the Financial Administration it is not certain that the system will be running as of the beginning of April.
The opposition Smer party suggested solving the problems with the malfunctioning information system through changes to legislation, which would include changing the so-called tax order and also postponing compulsory electronic communication from April 1, 2012 to January 1, 2013, the SITA newswire reported.
