On Tuesday, May 7, opposition MPs sought an explanation from Education Minister Dušan Čaplovič for why he refused the offer to use the Czech National System of Qualifications for the needs of Slovakia free of charge.
The National System of Qualifications project lists and compares the skills and knowledge to be adopted by masons, hairdressers and other similar professions. In the Czech Republic, it cost about 1.2 million crowns, while in Slovakia, it would cost €25 million. At the request of the MPs, the parliamentary education committee will deal with this case at a special session. Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) MP Miroslav Beblavý pointed out that in recent weeks, the ministry led Čaplovič signed several projects in a very short period of time, without public control, through direct order – worth a total of €100 million.
“We consider it important to check whether all financial resources for national projects will be spent in accordance with the requirements of effectiveness and transparency,” Beblavý summed up, according to SITA.
