A poll conducted by the MVK agency between May 8 and 15 that sought to determine impressions of trustworthiness in Slovak political life has found that the prime minister is both the most and least trusted politician in the country.
The poll, which asked which politicians respondents considered to be serious and trustworthy recorded Prime Minister Robert Fico as coming first, with 30.4 percent, followed by Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák (16.8 percent), Most-Híd’s Béla Bugár (13 percent), NOVA’s Daniel Lipšic (12.4), and President Ivan Gašparovič (with 9.1 percent), the TASR newswire reported
When asked which politicians cause most problems and mar the political environment, respondents again named Fico in first place (with 27.4 percent), followed by Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) leader Richard Sulík (24.1 percent), ex-Slovak National Party (SNS) leader Ján Slota (22.2 percent), former prime minister and Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) MP Mikuláš Dzurinda (15.7 percent) and President Ivan Gašparovič (12.7 percent).
