NBS April report shows steep growth in household loans

Loans provided to households and non-profit organizations serving households have grown steeply this year. Data from the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) shows that monetary financial institutions registered receivables in this category of Sk252.8 billion in April, up 28.8 percent year-on-year, the SITA news wire wrote. Since the beginning of this year, the sum of claims toward households and non-profit organizations serving households rose 15 percent on a cumulative basis.

One-third of these claims were housing loans at Sk168.4 billion, which rose 31.2 percent y/y. Consumer loans posted more a moderate y/y growth of 17 percent to Sk36.7 billion. The remaining Sk47.7 billion was in other loans, which increased 30.8 percent, compared with April 2006.
