The Monday, June 17 fire at the residence hall of the University of Economy in Bratislava resulted in 193 people being evacuated. Out of the evacuees, 153 were examined but no injuries were found.
“On June 17, from 21:36 to 02:27 on Tuesday, firemen from Bratislava extinguished the fire in the building of the residence hall of the University of Economics in Dolnozemská Street,” spokesperson of the Regional headquarters of the Fire and rescue Corps in Bratislava, Daniela Kapustová, told the TASR newswire. “After arrival to the emergency site it was determined that there was a fire in the sanitary facilities on the ground floor of the building.” After the fire was extinguished, the rooms were aired out and check carbon monoxide levels were checked. “Around 1:30, residents were allowed to return to the building. The cause of the fire is being investigated,” Kapustová concluded for TASR.
