Neglect gets parents 8.5 years

The parents of eight-year-old Koloman, whose legs had to be amputated because of frostbite ensuing from domestic neglect, were sentenced to 7.5 years in jail on January 13 by a district court in south Slovakia's Veľký Krtíš.

Of the five children born to Kristina and Miroslav B., Koloman is now being cared for by his aunt, another three are in the care of a grandmother, and a one-year-old is housed in a state orphanage.
