New ambassadors present their credentials

The state secretary of Slovakia’s Foreign Ministry, Milan Ježovica, on August 17 received the ambassador-designate of the People’s Republic of China to Slovakia, Ziping Gu, who presented copies of his credentials, the ministry’s press department told the TASR newswire.

Both officials praised the high quality of bilateral relations and pledged interest in their further fostering, particularly in the area of the economy. Ježovica also set out the Slovak Government’s foreign policy priorities as well as the country’s commitment to the universal and inalienable character of human rights.

Israel’s new ambassador-designate to Slovakia, Alexander Ben-Zvi, presented copies of his credentials to Slovak Foreign Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda on the same day. Ben-Zvi is to present his credentials to President Ivan Gašparovič today (Wednesday, 18 August), as is as Ziping Gu. The ministry's press department informed the SITA newswire that Dzurinda and Ben-Zvi briefly talked about the Middle East, including the peace process.
