Luxembourg will open its labour market for employees from new EU member countries (except Romania and Bulgaria) on November 1, the Plus Jeden Deň daily reported on October 31.
Luxembourg will become the 10th country where citizens from new EU member countries, including Slovakia, can work without a work visa.
After the EU enlargement on May 1, 2004, the original EU 15 asserted the right to introduce a seven-year transition period for opening their labour
markets to EU newcomers. However, most of them have already opened their labour market at least partially. Only Germany wants to keep the temporary period until 2011.
