Finance Minister Ivan Mikloš on Monday, August 16, appointed former Privatisation Minister Mária Machová as the new director general of Slovakia's Customs Directorate, the directorate's spokesperson Miroslava Slemenská told the TASR newswire.
Machova replaces Martina Slamkova Šimová who had been appointed interim head of the Customs Directorate on July 16 after the previous head Eleonora Krocianová was recalled on the same day. Machová, who represented the former Party of Civic Understanding (SOP) was the privatisation minister in Mikuláš Dzurinda's 1998-2002 cabinet, before heading the country's Tax Directorate based in Banská Bystrica (2002-2006).
Mikloš also appointed Miroslav Mikulčík as director-general of Slovakia's Tax Directorate after incumbent Igor Šulaj, named by the previous government, was dismissed on July 13. Zlatica Ondrušková and Vasil Panko have headed up the authority in the interim.
