Slovakia might win six new foreign investors from the engineering and electrical engineering sectors, the Hospodárske Noviny economic daily wrote on Monday, March 15, with the main one being an Indian firm producing electric cars.
Economy Minister Ľubomír Jahnátek said that first he must get the support of the Slovak cabinet to approve investment incentives for the companies. Some of them would like to start construction of their plants this year, said the minister. The top candidate is an Indian car manufacturer, Reva Electric Car Company, which should create around 1,000 jobs in western Slovakia.
Reva Electric Car Company is interested in having a factory within the boundaries of the European Union from which to launch its Reva electric car and the company is exploring Slovakia, the Economy Ministry told TASR on Friday, March 12, following a Reva representative’s meeting with Jahnátek on Thursday. If it opts for Slovakia, Reva would prefer the area around Bánovce nad Bebravou in Trenčín region) as its mother company Vectra Group, already has a production facility there that makes, among a host of other things, trucks.
