“IFprofs is a new platform addressing all teachers of the French language and, more widely, all people who are professionally involved with teaching French worldwide,” said Emmanuelle Daill, attaché for education and language cooperation at the French Institute in Slovakia.
In Slovakia, IFprofs was created in December, while the world-wide network will be officially launched by the French Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, Laurent Fabius, in the beginning of 2016.
“So far, several countries have joined this brave feat, while others will follow suit in 2016 and 2017,” Daill said.
“Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Finland, Bulgaria, Albania, Romania and Spain are on the website, and the platform will gradually open also for other countries,” Amandine Diogo of the Cooperation in Education and Language section of FIS told the TASR newswire.
The platform is meant for teachers and also students who are training to be teachers, for heads of Alliance Francaise branches, and headmasters. The goal is to network all these professionals and allow them to exchange information, share pedagogical sources, create interest groups – like teachers of French language and literature, experts, “but also teachers at bilingual schools or pedagogues who lecture at universities or colleges or teach young children”, according to Diogo.
A big positive is that the platform is free; one needs only to register and the enrolment is made automatically. Daill and Diogo are the platform’s administrators for Slovakia.
To advertise the platform and motivate people to use it, presentations and creative workshops have been organised inside and outside Bratislava. All information on the platform will be in French.
