PRESIDENT Ivan Gašparovič signed an amendment to the law on asylum, which will come into force as of the next year, according to the TASR news agency.
Asylum seekers will have to attend Slovak language courses and will be allowed to take jobs a year after the submission of asylum applications, if their applications are not processed sooner.
The new measure brings Slovak law on migration and asylum-related legislation into line with that of the European Union.
