Pope Francis appointed a new Archbishop of the Trnava archdiocese – Ján Orosch, spokesman of the Conference of Bishops of Slovakia (KBS) Jozef

Orosch was born in Bratislava in 1953, where he was ordained as a priest, later becoming a chaplain in Komárno, a parish administrator in Bušince and Okoč, as well as a parson in Nové Zámky, Bratislav-Prievoz and Bratislava-Čunovo. Between 1993 and 1999, he was the dean in Štúrovo and since 2004 a titular bishop and a regular bishop. In May 2004 he was appointed general vicar of the Bratislava-Trnava Archdiocese.
After the previous Trnava Archbishop Robert Bezák was recalled in June 2012, Orosch was appointed as the Apostolic administrator of the Trnava Archdiocese, according to SITA.
