THE NEW US Ambassador to Slovakia, Rodolphe M Vallee, 44, is to arrive in Bratislava on August 11, the US embassy press department confirmed for the TASR news agency on August 2.
President George W Bush nominated entrepreneur Vallee, a resident of Vermont, to the post. He has served as chairman and CEO of oil and gas station company R L Vallee Inc since 1989. He is also a former member of the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations.
Earlier in his career Vallee worked for US Senator Robert Stafford.
Vallee is a so-called "Bush Ranger" - he raised more than $200,000 (€165,000) in contributions for President Bush's 2004 re-election campaign.
The post of American ambassador to Slovakia has been vacant since December of last year, when Ronald Weiser ended his three-year term.
