Nine Slovak-Russian contracts signed

NINE new bilateral and commercial contracts were signed by Slovak and Russian representatives during Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to Slovakia, the TASR newswire reported.

NINE new bilateral and commercial contracts were signed by Slovak and Russian representatives during Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to Slovakia, the TASR newswire reported.

One of the contracts concerns activities connected with the export and import of military-
related products, as well as the development and modernisation of military production facilities.

Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák and the director of the Russian Federal Service for Control of the Circulaton of Narcotics, Viktor Ivanov, signed a document on cooperation in the fight against the illegal trade in narcotics. Kaliňák and the Federal Migration Service head Konstantin Romadanovsky signed a protocol on realising the agreement between the European Communities and the Russian Federation on readmission.

A memorandum of understanding was signed by Slovak Economy Minister Ľubomír Jahnátek and Russian Energy Minister Sergey Shmatko that should create the basis for a cyclotron joint research centre. They also signed a memorandum of cooperation covering the gas industry.

Representatives of Slovenské Elektrárne and Russia’s TVEL signed a commercial contract for TVEL to supply nuclear fuel for the nuclear power plant in Mochovce. Tatravagónka Poprad and Russian Railways signed a contract related to joint production of cargo carriages, among other products. It was also reported that three new private Russian-Slovak companies will invest about €100 million in Slovakia.
