A NEW open-air gallery opened in Nitra, the first of its kind in both the city and the region.
“The Open-Air Gallery project is maybe the only one of its kind in Slovakia; it will offer a wide spectrum of possibilities to visitors: apart from regular exhibitions of visual art, also various other activities will be organised here, for example, various games, chess, skittles and all of that, free of charge,” head of the Sports, Education, and Culture association (ŠOK) Ján Ivančik told the TASR newswire.
The project, initiated by ŠOK, was financed by the Nitra Community Foundation, NKN, which supports grant programmes through its Klub darcov (Club of Donors) scheme.
Ivančík said, as quoted by the SITA newswire, that Klokočina is the biggest housing estate in Nitra but it lacks culture, leisure-time activities and opportunities for artists and art schools to exhibit their works free of charge – all of which can be secured through this gallery. He added that ŠOK has the ambition to continue enhancing its offer of social activities and improving the rooms for exhibitions, including building a roof.
