An inspection carried out by the Supreme Audit Office (NKÚ) has found that the law on information systems of public administration was violated in the introduction of the new information system for tax offices, the TASR newswire reported on Monday, March 12.
"Based on these findings, the Financial Administration submitted a criminal complaint against an unknown perpetrator with the Bratislava I District Police Directorate," said the Finance Administration’s Miroslava Slemenská, adding that measures have been adopted that should prevent anything similar from taking place in the future.
The Financial Administration has faced serious problems over recent weeks due to the malfunctioning of its new information system. This has led to several sackings, including that of the Financial Administration's general director Igor Krnáč and its Competence Centre head Miroslav Mikulčík.
Meanwhile, implementation of the new KONS tax information system is still behind schedule and nobody is able to predict when the system will be up and running properly, a member of the emergency staff supervising the Financial Administration, Jozef Kollár, an MP for Freedom and Solidarity (SaS), said on Monday, March 12.
