AN ANONYMOUS letter claimed that a bomb had been delivered to the Slovak Foreign Affairs Ministry on the morning of Monday, May 16.
However, after a police check lasting half an hour no bomb was discovered. "The case is being investigated as scaremongering," Bratislava regional police spokesperson Silvia Miháliková told the TASR news agency.
According to the ministry's spokesman Juraj Tomaga, the letter was sent from a post office in Pezinok (Bratislava region). The security check did not disrupt the ministry's activities.
This was the fourth anonymous letter announcing a bomb in Bratislava during the past eight days. There was a letter sent to the Slovak Technical University on Vazovová Street, the post office on Tomašiková Street and the Education Ministry. No bombs were found.
"The letters will be examined by experts and the investigators will try to find out whether there is any connection between them," Miháliková stated. The sender can be sentenced to up to five years for playing such practical “jokes”.
