Slovak vets took biological samples from 5,986 cows in a search for bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE). None of the samples taken were BSE positive, reads a report published by the State Veterinary and Food Administration (SVPS). Of all the animals tested, 4,677 were healthy, 1,253 were deceased, and 55 were emergency slaughtered. A sample from an animal that was put down because it was showing symptoms of BSE also proved to be negative.
