Parliament is expected to vote on a no-confidence motion against Justice Minister Štefan Harabin next week, KDH vice-chairman Daniel Lipšic told the TASR newswire on August 26.
Opposition parties will submit the proposal for an unscheduled parliamentary session concerning Harabin's dismissal by August 28 (August 29 is a state holiday). Speaker of Parliament Pavol Paška will then have seven days to summon the session.
The opposition is citing an alleged personal relationship between Harabin and an Albanian businessman, Bakim Sadiki, who was accused of drug dealing but wasn't charged, as the reason for losing faith in the justice minister.
Opposition MPs allege there are copies of a telephone call between Harabin and Sadiki, in which they call each other by their first names and speak on familiar terms. Both of them have denied the contact.
Lipšic said the proposal for the no-confidence vote contains the signatures of the KDH, SDKÚ MPs and some independent MPs. But according to SMK parliamentary caucus leader Gyula Bárdos, the SMK will also vote for Harabin's dismissal. There have been several such motions since Smer came to power more than two years ago and none have resulted in Harabin’s ouster. TASR
