WHO has political sway in parliament will soon be demonstrated in parliament, which begins its new session today, the daily Pravda reported.
According to several politicians, the balance of power depends on what side independent MPs and four MPs from Pavol Rusko’s Citizen's Alliance (ANO) support. Opposition parties are proposing several changes, including early parliamentary elections.
Leader of the opposition Movement for Democratic Slovakia (HZDS), Vladimír Mečiar, sees the solution in the reconstruction of the cabinet where representatives of current opposition would be included.
Robert Fico, the leader of the opposition Smer party, wants to solve the situation through a wider political agreement on early elections at a “reasonable date”. He thinks the current election term should be shortened to somewhere in the first six months of 2006.
