AIRLINES blacklisted by Belgium and France for failing to meet safety regulations do not fly to Slovakia, Transport Ministry spokesperson Tomáš Šarluška told the news wire TASR.
According to Šarluška, mostly small airlines are on the black list. If these airlines comply with all statutory requirements, however, they are allowed to enter Slovak airspace in accordance with Slovak law.
Šarluška added that if “the EU makes and approves a black list of airlines, and then Slovakia would accept it" and not allow them into Slovak air space.
France published a black list of airlines that do not meet all of its safety requirements. These include: Air Koryo (North Korea), Air Saint-Thomas (USA), International Air Service (Liberia), Air Mozambique (Mozambique), and Air Phuket (Thailand). Belgium has a similar black list.
Great Britain and Switzerland have published a black list of unsafe airlines in the past.
