THE KINGDOM of Norway will provide €7.6 million annually to Slovakia in development aid until 2009. The aid will go specifically to the East of the country and its border regions, the SITA news agency wrote.
Norway will be providing a total of €38 million to the country.
Slovak Deputy Prime Minister Pal Csáky and Norwegian Foreign Ministry State Secretary Kim Traavik, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Tuesday on the implementation of the funding mechanism based on which aid will be provided.
The funding will be used for development in nine priority areas, including border cooperation, regional development, programmes in the health and education sectors, educational projects and projects for minorities.
Norway will cover 60 percent and Slovakia 40 percent of the costs for each individual project.
