AUREL Ugor, the head of the National Security Office (NSO) and a former employee of the Slovak Intelligence Service, thinks that all intelligences services should be fused in one centre in Slovakia, the daily SME wrote.
Ladislav Polka, an independent Slovak MP, intends to initiate political discussion in the Slovak parliament of a centre for analysing the information of domestic intelligence agencies, with its main focus on the fight against terrorism.
The centre would collect and analyse information from all three intelligence services – the Slovak Intelligence Service, Military Defence Intelligence, and Military Intelligence Service.
The USA is considering a similar centralisation.
"It was only a matter of time before such a discussion would be opened," said Ugor. "Slovakia has thought about such a centre for a long time, but no political agreement was ever made."
Ugor thinks that it would be ideal if it were a professional office independent of political structures, as it would be working with sensitive information.
