Almost 1,200 people now work at the plant, and another 2,000 are employed in supplier firms. The EU money would help find new work for the employees, who are expected to leave the Trnava-area plant as it shuts down from 2006 to 2008 in accordance with a deal between the Dzurinda cabinet and the EU.
