Number of flu cases doubled

The second calendar week of January has seen a significant increase in the number of people with acute respiratory illness. On a weekly basis, the number of reported cases rose by 48 percent, the TASR newswire reported on January 11.

Nitra and Košice Regions came atop in the number of the illnesses.

As far as flu and flu-like cases are concerned, the Public Health Office (ÚVZ) has information about 6,200 such cases in the given period, which represents a weekly rise of a whopping 115.5 percent. In this regard, Nitra Region saw the largest number of cases, TASR wrote.
