Number of new industrial orders increased by 10.9 percent in January

The volume of new industrial orders for Slovak businesses grew by 10.9 percent year-on-year to €3.135 billion in January 2012, according to data presented by the Statistics Office. It was the first double-digit rise in the number of new orders for three months, the SITA newswire reported.

In monthly terms, industrial orders rose by 4 percent, net of seasonal influences.

The situation in industry is gradually improving. During the crisis year of 2009, there was a drop of 19.9 percent in industrial orders, but they grew by 26.6 percent in 2010 to €34 billion, and by 8.3 percent last year to €37.2 billion.
