Obama writes to Kiska, praises transparency efforts

US President Barack Obama appreciates the interest of his Slovak counterpart, Andrej Kiska, in transparency and rule of law, values that the US and Slovakia share.

US President Barack Obama appreciates the interest of his Slovak counterpart, Andrej Kiska, in transparency and rule of law, values that the US and Slovakia share.

Obama wrote as much in his congratulatory letter to Kiska at the occasion of his inauguration, the Kiska’s office wrote on its website.

As an EU and NATO member, Slovakia is one of the key partners of the US, Obama wrote in the letter as stated in the press release. The American president expressed his hope that under Kiska’s tenure, Slovakia will continue supporting peace and economic growth in the region and in the world.

Obama wrote he is ready to cooperate with Kiska regarding the common interests of the two countries, such as the European energy security issues, stability in Afghanistan, help to the people of Ukraine on their way to security and future prosperity.
