Both the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) and the Movement for a Democratic Slovakia (HZDS) claim that the cooperation agreement between the parties that tabloid daily Novy Čas disseminated this week is a counterfeit document, the daily SME wrote.
However, the head of HZDS leader Vladimír Mečiar's election team, Viliam Soboňa, suggested that the fake document could have been a campaign trick by Foreign Affairs Minister and SDKÚ member Eduard Kukan, who is also running for president.
The document was reportedly signed on December 10 is effective until the end of the current election term.
In the alleged document, it says that the SDKÚ would not allow legislation on the origin of property and conflicts of interest to pass through parliament.
In return, Mečiar allegedly promised to restrain from initiating no-confidence motions towards members of the cabinet and from supporting any similar initiative.
