One in three unemployed Slovaks has been looking for a job for more than two years, according to data presented by the Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Centre (ÚPSVaR). The number of long-term unemployed Slovaks is over 121,600, with the highest figure (30,000) in Prešov region. Košice and Banská Bystrica region also reported high figures (almost 28,000 each), the TASR newswire reported.
According to the statistics, the overall number of unemployed Slovaks reached over 393,000 in November, which represents an increase of more than 1,000 applicants month-on-month.
If the unemployment rate had been calculated from all job applicants, including those who cannot take up jobs immediately (due to health reasons etc.), it would have reached 14.74 percent in November, TASR reported.
