The 10th year of the international festival of documentary films 'Jeden svet' (One World), which will take place in Bratislava between November 3-8, will feature 63 films from all around the world in six cinemas, festival PR manager Eva Zaťková told the TASR newswire on October 26.
“We're presenting topics that don't sell at the box office, that essentially relate to human fates, human stories and whole countries,” Zaťková said. “The festival's central film section is '20 years of democracy in film, 20 years of freedom',” said Nora Beňáková, the director of the civil association People in Peril.
Three films show a picture of society from before the 1989 Velvet Revolution, among them the cult film Papierové Hlavy (Paper Heads) by Dušan Hanák.
Another significant topic is the economic crisis. "We'll feature films that show the first hours and days of the financial crisis on Wall Street, and we'll also screen films on how to substitute other fuels for oil and how to use solar panels,” said Beňáková. TASR
