The Office for Cartography and Land Register (UGKK), in cooperation with the Surveying and Cartographic Institute (GKU), has launched an online real estate register, the SITA news wire wrote.

The online register was piloted from December 1, 2003, and required the installation of about 2,300 computers in land registry offices.

Upgrading the IT system in the land register offices consumed Sk90 million (€2.2 million) of PHARE program funds, and government funds allocated for the project amounted to about Sk10 million (€244,300). Annual operating costs are estimated at about Sk5.2 million (€127,040).

The online real estate register is a prepaid service that is expected to facilitate trade in real estate.
