Only one bidder has shown an interest in tendering for the third package of private-public partnership projects (PPP) to build motorways in Slovakia, Transport, Posts and Telecommunications Ministry spokesman Stanislav Jurikovič said on May 12.
“The commission has begun to evaluate the submitted bid,” said Jurikovič, adding that the process is expected to take two weeks.
PPP projects are intended to allow Slovakia to finance the construction of some 150 kilometres of road infrastructure, with expenditures reaching €4.17 billion. The Slovak government has divided the motorway sections to be constructed into three packages. The third package includes sections of the D1 motorway Hricovské Podhradie-Lietavská Lúčka, Lietavská Lúčka-Višňové, Višňové-Dubná Skala, and the motorway feeder Lietavská Lúčka-Žilina (all in Žilina Region).
The first package includes sections of the D1 motorway Dubná Skala-Turany, Turany-Hubová, Hubová-Ivachnová (all in Žilina Region), Janovce-Jablonov (Košice and Prešov Regions), and Fričovce-Svinia (Prešov Region). The second package includes sections of the R1 dual carriageway Nitra-Selenec, Selenec-Beladice, Beladice-Tekovské Nemce (all in Nitra Region), and the northern bypass of Banská Bystrica. TASR
