TO DEMONSTRATE the weakness of the governing coalition parties, the opposition managed to block the parliamentary session on Monday. Parliament needs to have at least 76 MPs present in order to function but only 73 were present on September 12, the SME daily reported.
The only hope of the coalition to reconvene the parliamentary session lays in the independent MPs.
Of the independent deputies, Ivan Šimko, Gustav Krajčí and Ivan Kino may assist the ruling coalition in summoning parliament. However, Šimko first wants to discuss the situation with the opposition.
Some of the coalition parties (Christian Democratic Movement and the Hungarian Coalition Party) already admit that early elections are a possibility if parliament fails to reconvene its session.
