The Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party, a member of Slovakia’s four party ruling coalition, is making efforts to keep the three remaining members of the 'Ordinary People' faction in its caucus after their leader Igor Matovič was expelled by SaS chief Richard Sulík late last week, said Erika Jurinová, an Ordinary People MP, the TASR newswire reported.
"There isn't any pressure, it's rather about effort," said Jurinová, adding that the issue should be resolved at a caucus session of SaS on February 16.
"We won't release any statements beforehand," she said. Jurinová's colleague Martin Fecko earlier in the day stated that the three are inclined towards leaving the SaS caucus, SITA wrote.
Jurinova added that whatever might happen the members of the faction will continue to support the governing coalition and its programme statement adopted last year. MP Matovič was expelled from the caucus after voting for a version of the state citizenship amendment submitted by the opposition Smer party.
