Language legislation and the Citizenship Act will be among the topics discussed between representatives of the Slovak government and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), High Commissioner on National Minorities Knut Vollebaek said, who will be visiting Slovakia until Thursday, October 11.
"The visit is a manifestation of an ongoing open dialogue of the Commissioner with the Slovak government about matters related to the protection of ethnic minorities in Slovakia," the press department of the Foreign Ministry informed the SITA newswire. During his visit, Vollebaek will meet with Prime Minister Robert Fico, Minister of Foreign Affairs Miroslav Lajčák, Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák, Culture Minister Marek Maďarič, Education Minister Dušan Čaplovič and the Government Plenipotentiary for National Minorities László Nagy.
Knut Vollebaek will also visit ethnically mixed regions of Slovakia. In Komárno, he will meet with representatives of the self-government and visit the János Selye University. He also plans to meet with representatives of the ethnically-based political parties Most-Híd and SMK, as well as representatives of NGOs.
