The Adopt a Politician prayer campaign organised by Christian institutions and youth organisations has attracted more than 1,000 regular visitors in the five months of its existence.

The project encourages visitors to select a politician on its web site www.adoptujsipolitika.sk and to pray regularly on his or her behalf. The organisers believe that by uniting fellow religious souls in prayer, they can make the word of God felt in Slovak politics, as "God wants to have Christian values such as justice, fairness and respect for life upheld in politics, as well".

According to the organisers, university students and middle-aged people have responded to the campaign in the largest numbers. "However, we haven't managed to reach the youngest and oldest generations yet. That's why we're focusing on them in the next stage of our campaign," said Eduard Filo, coordinator of the Christian Youth Association, for the TASR newswire.
