Pál Csáky announces his candidacy for top SMK post

The deputy chairman of the opposition Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK), Pál Csáky, will run against the party's current leader, Béla Bugár, at a special congress that will elect the party’s new chairman on March 31.

Csáky made his decision after discussing his potential candidacy with roughly a hundred people from both inside and outside the party. He wants to present a 15 point agenda to the party's congress delegates in which he promises changes in party management, more transparency, more professionalism, more involvement of regional structures in the decision-making process, and the preparation of a new generation of SMK politicians.

Bugár welcomed the deputy chairman’s decision.
