The refugees were initially placed in al-Waleed, a refugee camp in the deserts of Iraq near the Syrian Border, where they suffered from poor conditions. The group of 98 people consists mostly of families with children. Their stay in Slovakia is temporary. After six moths they will be relocated to third countries. The stay will cost more than €362,862 and Slovakia's Interior Ministry will cover the costs. SITA
