No injuries were reported. The accident is being investigated by forensic experts, a police spokesperson told the TASR news wire.

It is possible the fire started on the upper floor of the building, where workers were cutting and forming iron structures using torches. The work was taking place close to a supply of wooden boards and other flammable construction materials, a head firefighter said.

The accident happened during reconstruction works at the site, which Panasonic bought for €375,000 only ten days ago.

Panasonic's new production halls are located close to the scene of the accident and a water screen had to be employed to stop the fire from spreading.
